President's Report

We are mid-way through Q3 and looking forward to finishing the year with style and excitement.

Folks are still oohing and aahing over the amazing Design Awards Gala; we give many kudos to the Gala Committee and to all those designers who entered projects and to all our sponsors!

 We will hold Chapter Officer elections during the last two weeks of August.  There are three members self-nominated for Programs Chair.  Stay-tuned for more information on voting.  Good luck to each of our candidates.  Our 2026-2027 President will be Amy Olson, and our Communications Chair will remain Jennifer Kowalski while Victoria Thayer, Treasurer/Secretary and Becky Crist, Membership fulfill the second year of their terms.

 The programs for the rest of the year are falling into place (thank you Kelly); stay tuned for a very “special event” this fall.  Chapter meetings are listed on our website NKBA Puget Sound - Home Page under EVENTS.

 2026 Sponsorship packets will be available Sept 5^th with applications accepted beginning Sept 10^th.

 Our Holiday Party will be on Tuesday, Dec 9^th, including yet another fun themed party and induction of 2026 Chapter Officers.  Hope to see you there!

AUGUST
August 1-31 - Chapter Office Elections
August 31 - ThirtyUnder30 nominations due

NKBA THIRTY UNDER 30 – Class of 2026

Our Thirty Under 30 Program is designed to celebrate the future rock stars of the K&B industry. The landing page is currently live and accepting all self-nominations and nomination applications for the Class of 2026. This year, a panel of three judges - each from the Class of 2025 - will review submissions.

We encourage you to nominate a deserving professional to represent your Chapter. Please note the link to the active application Thirty Under 30 Nomination Form  The deadline to apply is August 31. 

SKILLED LABOR INITIATIVES

Melissa Flynn, Chapters & Skilled Trades Manager, spoke about the skilled labor momentum. Currently 34 out of 70 Chapters have taken advantage of grant opportunities to host Skilled Labor Initiatives in 2025. There is still time to apply for a Skilled Labor Fund Grant from the National Housing Endowment. If you would like assistance on how to apply for the NHE grant and/or how to include skilled labor initiatives in your Chapter events, please reach out to Melissa at [email protected]

CALL FOR WEBINARS

Thank you to all NKBA members who submitted proposals for Voices from the Industry (VFTI) at KBIS 2026. All selected speakers will be notified the last week of August.
